Weekend Events for Cumming, GA for September 12 – September 14, 2014

dixie dock dogsFall is near and favorite events are happening this weekend in and around Forsyth County, GA. Festivals, consignment sales, corn mazes, dixie dock dogs and lots of fall fun are in store.

Friday, September 12

8:30 am – 1:00 pm – Kids Consignment Sale – Cumming First United Methodist Church – Cumming First United Methodist Church in Cumming, Georgia hosts a huge Kid’s Consignment Sale twice a year.  This ministry raises funds for Women and Children’s outreach programs both locally and globally. CFUMC is located at 770 Canton Highway in Cumming, GA, 30040.

10:00 am – 2:00 pm – The Vickery Village Farmers Market. This farmers market is one of few in which the produce is truly farm fresh … wherein the farmer is the grower. 11:15 AM – 11:45 am – Hampton Park Library – Preschool Pals Story time – These 30 minute programs are designed to promote language, listening, and pre-reading skills by offering vocabulary development, experiences with a variety of literature, and participation in language-related activities.  Hear stories, sing songs, and develop the skills needed to become a successful reader. This program is suggested for children, ages 3-5, with a caregiver. Advance registration is not required for this program.

Saturday, September 13

10:00 am – 4:00 pm – Red Door Festival – Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit- enjoy a festive fall afternoon to benefit our Forsyth County neighbors! They are the church with the red door on the hill on Pilgrim Mill Road! Lots of fun, food and fellowship.

10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Michaels Kids Club Event: Team spirit pom poms. Let the kids craft while you shop, and then they get to take their creativity home with them! Just $2 per 30-minute session – including supplies. Ages 3 & up welcome!

10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Lowe’s Build and Grow – build a set of binoculars! Get set for birdwatching this fall with your own binoculars.

11:00 am – 3:00 pm – Warbington Farms Back to School Festival to Benefit Forsyth County Schools – mention your school’s name at the gate & Warbington Farms will donate a portion of the proceeds to your school’s PTA/PTO organization. Face Painting, Inflatables, Hey Ride, Fun Park, Corn Trail, Games, Vendors, & more!

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble – The Collection Forsyth. Join us for Storytime, featuring the title Where the Wild Things Are. Reading and activities for kids.

11:15 am – 12:00 pm – Post Road Library – Saturday Family Storytime. Start your weekend off right at the Post Road Library. We’ll have stories, dancing, and fun! This storytime is great for the whole family!

2:00 pm – Hampton Park Library – FCPL Cinema – Lisa See’s novel was adapted into a movie of the same name, which was released in 2011.  No registration required to attend. Rated PG-13, Running time:  120 minutes.

Events Near Forsyth County, GA

Atlanta Dragon Boat Festival – Saturday, September 13 at the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue in Gainesville, GA. Activities commence with races beginning at 7 am and the colorful Opening Ceremonies at noon. The race has grown from a handful of teams and a few spectators to an event which is one of the hallmark diversity events in the metro Atlanta area. The event now boasts a field of more than 50 teams with over 5,000 spectators and a wide variety of Chinese artisans either performing or displaying their wares.

Rucker Falling for Dock Dogs competition this weekend, September 12th, 13th, and 14th! Located at Rucker Pet & Wild Bird, 3245 Peachtree Parkway, Suwanee, GA 30024. Watch them jump, swim and splash!

Hillcrest Orchards Apple Picking Jubilee – where you can pick your own apples, milk a cow, watch live pig races, walk a nature trail, visit the petting farm ($3.00 per person), take a wagon ride through the orchard, visit the Moonshine Museum and much more.

Uncle Shuck’s Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch opens for the fall season this weekend! Get lost in the corn maze, pick out a pumpkin, shoot the cannon, take a hayride and more!
